RTL Today
92 people were arrested between 2015 and 2020 for organised crime, according to Police Minister Henri Kox and Justice Minister Sam Tanson, who were responding to a parliamentary question by LSAP MPs Mars di Bartolomeo and Dan Biancalana.

The MPs referred to a report by the Grand-Ducal Police from 2019 and to Interpol, which had classified Luxembourg among the countries most attractive for organised crime due to its geographical positioning and economic situation.

The ministers pointed out that, like other European countries, Luxembourg is also confronted with foreign organised crime, for example with attacks on ATMs carried out by organised gangs. However, the police do not have figures on the number of cases of this type. The ministers refer to the complexity of the files, presumption of innocence and that of the secrecy of the investigation.

Last year, marked by the outbreak of Covid-19, saw the number of new cases in the field of organised crime drop from 33 to 25. Narcotics cases remain prevalent.
