The transition to electric mobility in Luxembourg is gathering pace, with electric models now accounting for 30% of all new vehicle registrations. To address the growing interest and provide information to the public, the second edition of Go Electric Day will take place at the Coque on Friday, 4 October.

The event, organised by the Climate Agency and the Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL), aims to answer questions from those considering a switch to electric transport, as well as to showcase the latest developments in the sector.

According to Fenn Faber, Director of the Climate Agency, electric vehicles have become a familiar sight on Luxembourg’s roads. Public scepticism has declined significantly, thanks to notable advances in battery lifespan, improved range, expanded charging infrastructure, and more transparent costs.

These developments have made it easier for consumers to consider electric vehicles as a viable option for their daily mobility needs.

To further streamline this interaction, a new tool will be available from 1 October, called Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS).

Fenn Faber explains that these modules, which can be installed at home, help optimise energy flows within a building by automating processes, essentially serving as a form of smart technology to maximise efficiency.

The ACL confirms that electromobility now plays an increasingly central role in its advisory services, with electric vehicles featuring in 80% of consultations.

Frank Maas from the ACL notes that while questions in previous years were mostly general, focusing on vehicle types and engines, today’s discussions centre around the broader ecosystem: home charging infrastructure, payment methods, batteries, state subsidies, and leasing options.

Interest in electric vehicles has surged in 2024, with the number of related consultations doubling since the start of the year. Over the past four years, the ACL has organised 23 nationwide conferences on the topic.

Go Electric Day on 4 October will bring together 40 exhibitors, a broad range of experts, and around 70 electric vehicles. Visitors will also have the chance to test-drive various models. More details can be found here.
