Divers from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), along with other teams, began the search on Sunday evening in Clausen and Eich. On Monday morning, the police confirmed that “a man had jumped into the icy water close to rue du Pont in Luxembourg-Pfaffenthal”, yet the search has been unsuccessful thus far.

CGDIS teams, divers, water rescue teams, and the police have been conducting searches all along the Alzette in Pfaffenthal and Eich.

Witness appeal

Following initial investigations, the police are still looking for witnesses who may have seen the incident or have any knowledge of the missing person.

The man was likely wearing a red hoodie and white shoes at the moment of the incident. According to available information, another man – wearing a brown jacket – had witnessed the scene and tried to hold the now-missing man back.

The man in the brown jacket, or any other witness with useful information about the incident, is therefore asked to contact the Luxembourg police station on (+352) 244 40 1000 or by e-mail at Police.LUXEMBOURG@police.etat.lu.
