130 participants came together on 16 and 17 May 2025, to participate in the second edition of the QuattroPole network’s cross-border hackathon. Over the course of 24 intense hours, students, professionals, and innovation enthusiasts joined forces to collectively reimagine the city centre of tomorrow.
Spread across four iconic sites in Luxembourg City, Metz, Saarbrücken, and Trier – participants formed cross-border teams to develop innovative solutions for transforming city centres – a key concern for the four cities involved – guided by four strategic priorities:
On Saturday 17 May at 3pm, after many hours of creativity and collaboration, the teams presented their projects to an international jury of experts, who evaluated them based on six criteria: innovation, inclusion, desirability, feasibility, sustainability, and measurability.
Chaired by Boris Hedde, director of the consultancy firm IFH KÖLN, and expert in retail and urban transformation, the jury selected one of the five teams from Metz as the overall winner for its project “TERRACITY”. The team was awarded the QuattroPole Prize, worth €3,000.
In addition, each city presented a “Jury’s Favourite” award of €1,000, with support from local authorities and partners. The winning teams were:
Luxembourg: “LËTZPERIENCE”
Metz: “NEXT CITY”
Saarbrücken: “NAVIGATION WIZZARDS”
Trier: “MY CITY”

In keeping with its commitment to innovation and cross-border cooperation, QuattroPole is already preparing for the next steps: a second Economic Forum is scheduled for 2026, paving the way for a third Hackathon in 2027.
All project presentations will be available in the coming days on the QuattroPole Hackathon website.
In 2025, the Quattropole network celebrates 25 years of shared cross-border cooperation and joint initiatives between the cities of Luxembourg, Metz, Saarbrücken, and Trier.
