Described as a 'place for passion' by its project managers, GRIDX is a large-scale project in Wickrange set to cover over 50,000 square metres.

As of 1 July 2025, various activities will be offered on site — revolving around mobility, food, entertainment, local crafts, and events. Project manager Alex Giorgetti gives further insight as to where the idea came from:

“As a family, we noticed that people also spend a lot of time alone at home, that many people no longer have any real passions and spend a lot of time surfing the internet, sitting on their mobile phones, ... so we thought about how we could design a building that could reflect a new concept.”

The project also questions commerce in its current form. With the same shops found almost everywhere, GRIDX wants to strengthen craftsmanship and support local tradespeople.

“Of course, we don’t want to become a traditional shopping centre, we have completely different strategies and more affordable price ranges. And, of course, we are always open to helping local people realise a project that they have always dreamed of.”

Entertainment will also be part of the experience. In addition to a large parking lot where events can be held, cars will play a unique role.

Glass boxes can be rented as a garage, says Roland Lammar, Director of GRIDX. “And when my car is parked, the glass door opens. I can then climb into my car and drive out of the centre through the gallery. Which, of course, is also a hype for the people walking through the centre.”

The project in Wickrange also will include a hotel and 120 on-site flats.
