For years, journalists and the press council have demanded improved access to government information. The president of the press council, Roger Infalt, told attendees that he would continue to campaign for the right of access to information to be enshrined in Luxembourgish law, as is the case in many other European countries.
Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, who holds the position of Minister for Communications and Media, admitted to the press that there was room for improvement in terms of the government allowing access to certain information. He added that it had not always been done correctly, but said the government was in the process of working on improvements.
