In recent days, the public prosecutor’s office, via the Education Ministry, reported incidents that could potentially constitute offences, namely assault and battery on children under the age of 14.
Given the seriousness of the allegations, the case was referred to an examining magistrate on 4 February, who immediately issued a search and seizure warrant for the crèche and its
registered office.
The search was carried out on the evening of 4 February in the presence of judicial police investigators. The investigation is continuing under the orders of the examining magistrate, who will establish the facts and determine any possible responsibility.
The nursery has been closed to the public since Wednesday, while the investigation continues.
Authorities have not released further information, citing the secrecy of the investigation and the presumption of innocence. The public prosecutor’s office emphasises that the investigation is ongoing and no conclusions can be drawn at this stage.
