BewarePolice warn of scammers posing as charity workers

RTL Today
Recently the police have received reports of instances where fraudulent individuals go door-to-door and pretend to be a part of a non-governmental organisation in order to steal from residents.

Some of the individuals even pretend to be deaf. To then gather fake donations from their unsuspecting victims, they will provide false documents. They might ask for a glass of water or to use the bathroom in order to gain access to their victim’s home, and will then use this distraction to look out for valuable items.

The police states that real members of NGOs will always be able to identify themselves. Should you have any doubts about the identify of the donation collector, contact the organisation in question.
