The police described two examples from this week. On Monday, two men offered to check the roof of a property on Rue de Hamm, Bonnevoie. They looked at the roof, then insisted the resident pay them and pressured the resident to accept their offer. The resident refused and left.
In Rambrouch, another such incident occurred on Rue de Schwiedelbrouch. Again, two men knocked on a house door and suggested they carry out work on the nearby road surface. The owner accepted, but found out that the work had not been done properly and to a good standard. The two men were checked by the police on the spot, which resulted in officers identifying issues with their documents and a lack of clarity regarding the men's authorisation to remain in the country. An investigation was launched.
The authorities advised the public to exercise caution when receiving such offers. Any suspicious situations or scams should be reported to police.
