On Tuesday, police received several reports of fraudsters using a familiar technique involving fake LuxTrust links. In these cases, victims were contacted by an unknown number and told that a large sum of money had been withdrawn from their bank card, that they had fallen victim to a cyberattack, or that there were problems with their account.

The scammers then urged victims to verify their login details. To do this, the targets were asked to follow a link sent via SMS, which directed them to a fake LuxTrust website, where they were prompted to enter their Luxtrust credentials.

Police are reminding the public that such requests do not reflect the procedures of legitimate authorities or banks. Official institutions will never ask for card information or access details via email, SMS, or phone call.

Police also emphasise that anyone who is unsure whether a message is genuine should not feel pressured, and should contact the relevant company or bank using official contact channels.

In particular, elderly people should be informed and made aware of these types of scams. Anyone who believes they may have fallen victim to such a scheme is urged to contact the police immediately.
