At the start of January 2020, the number of police members stood at 1,728. However, this figure has surged to 3,029 members as of January 2023, as highlighted by Minister Henri Kox in his parliamentary answer to the CSV.
In addition, the civilian unit within the police force has also witnessed a rise in personnel, increasing from 394 individuals in January 2020 to 662 in January 2023.
This development suggests that the civilian unit has progressively assumed greater responsibilities, thereby alleviating some of the workload of police officers. This shift has further allowed officers to concentrate more effectively on their fieldwork duties, the Minister stressed.
Recruitment efforts within the police force remain ongoing. This year alone, 191 trainees were enlisted for careers in the B1 and C1 ranks.
