Grand Ducal police warned shortly after 9 PM that they were experiencing technical problems affecting the entire network.
The issues were resolved later on Wednesday evening. Police across the Grand Duchy, including the large stations at Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, and Esch, can again be contacted with their respective phone numbers.
During the outage, citizens were advised to contact 112 - usually for emergency ambulance services - in order to pass messages on to the police. 112 services were in permanent contact with the national intervention centre which handles 113 emergency calls, permitting police to continue responding to emergency calls while the technical issues were fixed. Although internal phone lines were down, radio and mobile phones enabled communication to continue.
The issue will be subjected to investigation in order to help the emergency services prepare for outages and prevent them from reoccurring in future.
As a reminder, emergency ambulance services can be reached in Luxembourg by calling 112, with police available to contact on 113.
