As part of the road safety campaign, police have been conducting checks on vehicle lights and tyres since mid-October.

The police also inspect the general technical condition of the vehicles.

Over the course of these predominantly preventive checks, a total of 239 warnings have been issued, mainly due to vehicle lighting.

In 310 cases, the police issued fines after discovering serious technical defects. In 37 cases, there was an issue with the lighting, 41 cases involved non-conforming tyres, and over 130 motorists were in violation of the regulations requiring frequent roadworthiness checks.

29 drivers did not secure their loads properly, the technical state of 21 drivers’ vehicles was not up to standard, and in 20 cases, the number plates were unreadable or not properly fixed to the vehicle.
