As part of the Hazeldonk campaign for cross-border safety enacted by France and Benelux authorities, the police and customs performed searches between 8pm and midnight on Thursday, in Rue de Linger in Pétange.

In total, 44 police officers and nine customs agents were involved in Thursday’s searches.

Throughout the evening, a small quantity of cannabis as well as four weapons were seized. Consequently, an official report for weapon ownership was opened up.

A report was also filed for a motorist who was driving his vehicle while inebriated.

Perhaps the most notable event occurred when one driver attempted to flee towards the border, which resulted in a pursuit. The culprit, who was found to not be in possession of a valid driver’s license, was stopped at the Belgium crossing area.
