The first incident occurred on a Friday afternoon in Steinfort when a police patrol observed a vehicle near a local petrol station. Upon conducting a routine check, officers detected the presence of a cannabis smell emanating from the vehicle’s interior. Both the driver and passenger admitted to recent cannabis consumption, leading to the issuance of a fine.
Later that same Friday, around 11.50pm, a driver drew the attention of authorities in Luxembourg City by using the bus lane on Avenue Monterey. A subsequent alcohol test revealed a positive result, prompting the confiscation of the driver’s licence.
In the early hours of Saturday, at approximately 12.20am, another police patrol encountered a motorist struggling to stay in lane while driving up Montée du Grund. As with the previous case, a positive alcohol test led to the confiscation of the driver’s licence.
Around the same time, another patrol in the vicinity observed a vehicle swerving along Boulevard Royal, with the driver again found to be operating their vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Consequently, this driver was required to surrender their driving licence as well.
