Police officers patrolling Rue de Bonnevoie during the night from Wednesday to Thursday caught a man in the act of breaking into a shop.
The officers saw the suspect climbing out of the shop’s front door through a broken window, with his pockets full of coins. Police swiftly apprehended the man at the scene.
During their search, officers discovered an open cash register, which they returned to the business owner. Acting on instructions from the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention.
A separate arrest took place in Differdange on Wednesday evening, when a man was caught stealing a backpack and several cans of beer from a shop. Staff noticed the theft and managed to stop the suspect as he was leaving the premises.
Further investigation revealed the man was already known to police, having previously been arrested for theft in September. He was once again taken into custody and placed in pre-trial detention.
