Police have issued a call for witnesses in relation to an altercation that got out of hand and left one person severely injured on Sunday morning.

The altercation in question took place on the main road in Manternach, near the ‘A Wiesesch’ nature sanctuary, at 6.30am on Sunday. Two people were involved, one of whom suffered serious injuries. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Since there was a folk fair taking place in nearby Herborn, police hope that visitors of the event may have information on the altercation. Witnesses should therefore contact the Echternach police department via phone (+352 244 72 1000) or email (police.echternach@police.etat.lu).

Mugger arrested in Esch-sur-Alzette

Later on Sunday afternoon, a man was seen threatening a person and stealing their phone at bus stop in Esch-sur-Alzette. Nearby police officers observed the incident and were able to detain the fugitive mugger, who was then arrested by order of the prosecutor’s office.

On Monday morning, the man was presented to an examining magistrate.
