In his speech, the LCGB president called for concrete measures to strengthen purchasing power. The minimum wage should be adjusted more regularly and raised above the poverty line. Tax relief should be given to people earning low or mediocre wages, family presentations should be fully indexed, and child benefits should be increased by at least €20 per child.
Patrick Dury has also called for a new approach to unemployment. Cooperation between employers and Adem should be structured to keep people with formations in the 1st labour market, among others.
For those with health problems, priority would have to be given to internal reclassification. Incidentally, if a sick person does not find a new job after two years, he/she should automatically be put on disability pension. The limit of 78 weeks of sick leave should be abolished in the eyes of the federation of trade unions.
In the context of digitalisation, formations and the right to switch off would be urgently needed in workers’ privacy and data protection. And if productivity were to improve massively through digitalisation, working hours in general would also have to be reduced. Further, the LCGB demands, among other things, that it should be possible to strike easily and that all residents in the country should have the right to vote.
