One of the cars lost control going round a bend and came off the road, crashing into the wall of a railway bridge before rolling into a ditch.
Both occupants of the car suffered injuries in the crash, with the passenger receiving first aid at the scene for potentially life-threatening injuries. Both the injured were transported to hospital for emergency care.
The public prosecutor ordered an official investigation into the incident. The driver had their licence confiscated for drink driving and received a subsequent fine. The stretch of road where the accident took place was completely closed to traffic for some time.
