A technical malfunction at a construction site in Kräizgrënnchen, Luxembourg City, led to the release of smoke on Saturday, prompting a swift response from emergency crews to secure the area.

Some smoke was reported at around midday on Saturday at a construction site in Kräizgrënnchen, Luxembourg City.

According to preliminary information from emergency services, the incident was caused by a technical malfunction in a temporary power supply box, which overheated and produced smoke.

No injuries were reported, but a rescue team remained on site to secure the area and prevent a potential fire. A team from energy provider Creos was also despatched to restore power to the construction site.

Other incidents

Earlier on Saturday, a motorcyclist was involved in a crash in Hellange at around 9.30am. The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) confirmed that one person sustained injuries in the accident.

In a separate incident on Saturday morning, the roof of a house in the Belair neighbourhood in Luxembourg City caught fire. No injuries were reported.

Additionally, a car crash occurred between Reuland and Blumenthal at around 7.10pm on Friday evening, leaving one person injured.
