During their traditional press conference at the end of the legislative year, the members of Luxembourg's Left Party ("Déi Lénk") looked back on the past months.

In particular, the politicians stressed that the country is currently facing several massive crises, which the government is, however, not taking seriously enough.

MP Nathalie Oberweis stated that while the majority parties have introduced a new Housing Pact to fight the increasingly difficult situation on the country's housing market, the pact does not even come close to meeting the needs of the sector. One of the main problems, according to Oberweis, is that the government is still relying on private property developers to act. In contrast, the Left Party thinks that a housing crisis requires more proactive and interventionist action, something which the government "doesn't dare to do". Instead, they only deliver "lazy compromises", the MP stated.

Regarding the fight against climate change, MP Myriam Cecchetti explained that the government does not recognise the need for substantial measures with its policies being nothing more than "window dressing". Cecchetti stressed that the government cannot be allowed to "just put on a green coat" and throw around phrases such as "Green Deal" or "Farm to Fork" while still pushing monocultures and factory farming. According to the MP, the government is doing its best to make sure that nobody has to make any real efforts, stressing that her party would never agree to these "lazy compromises" if they were part of a government.

On the topic of the coronavirus crisis, the opposition politicians stated that they have the impression that over the course of the pandemic, the government has based its decisions less and less on objective and transparent data and increasingly banked on results of negotiations. Nathalie Oberweis and Myriam Cecchetti, who took over as Left Party MPs from David Wagner and Marc Baum in 2021, announced that they want to continue pushing for more equity and sustainability.
