Patrick Obertin of the Luxembourg physiotherapists' association (Association Luxembourgeoise des Kinés) said a number of practitioners were yet to receive an invitation for their first jab. Members of the association have been asking for their invite for the last month, he said.
Obertin said physiotherapists should have all been included in the first phase of vaccinations as a priority group. Apparently invitations had already been issued, but not to everyone.
Obertin explained he had asked staff at the vaccination centre if there were issues with the rollout, but the response was that everyone eligible for this phase of the vaccine should have already been contacted.
He queried whether it was a technical issue causing professionals in the health sector to miss out on their jab, or if perhaps the professional register was not up to date.
An email address (helpdesk-vaccination@ms.etat.lu) has been made available for professionals who need to register for the vaccine, but Obertin said it was not just physiotherapists affected by this error.
Applicants should mention their name, first name, number, profession, telephone number, place of work and e-mail address. A response should then be sent within two weeks.
An official explanation has not been provided for the missing invitations, said Oberlin.
So far, 300 physiotherapists have come forward to actively participate in the vaccination strategy in Luxembourg. The Ministry of Health has been working alongside the association to enable physiotherapists to carry out vaccinations on doctors' prescriptions. 20 have undergone the appropriate training so far.
