Short-term employmentNumbers remain elevated for another month

Similar as unemployment, the number of people working short-term employment remains elevated in the Grand Duchy. Around 4,300 business applications were accepted, which are nevertheless 100 fewer than in March. The measure is currently set to stay in place until 30 June.

Read also: 3,000 more jobless in February 2021 than the year beforeUntil the beginning of March, 151,000 employees had to apply for short-term employment due to the pandemic. The government has so far spent more than €580 million on the measure.

The conjuncture committee has furthermore been treating around 50 cases in which businesses launched a work preservation programme as a consequence of the pandemic.
