
This corresponds to a 10% increase compared to the first semester of 2022. While this figure remains below the level recorded at the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, there has been a noticeable increase.
The construction industry experienced the greatest increase in new bankruptcies. The sector with the highest overall number of bankruptcies, however, remains the service sector.
In related news, Portuguese butcher and catering chain Casa Do Brill announced on Tuesday that it was ceasing all operations in Luxembourg after 37 years in business. Seven locations have been closed down.
The company made the announcement in a press release posted on their website and on social networks.
As of Tuesday 11 July 2023, its seven shops have closed their doors for good. They were located in Luxembourg City (Bonnevoie), Differdange (one on Rue Kennedy, the other on Place des Alliés), Esch-sur-Alzette, Diekirch, Dudelange, and Marnach.
All of its other services, including deliveries, webshop, customer loyalty, catering, and foodtrucks, have also been discontinued.
Casa do Brill was one of Luxembourg’s oldest traditional Portuguese butcher shops. “We would like to sincerely thank all our customers for their incredible loyalty and support over the last 37 years. It has been a great pleasure to serve you over the years. We apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause you,” the Casa Do Brill press release concludes.
