Recent burglary spreeNeighbours apprehend thief in Diekirch

The police have reported a string of burglaries this past Tuesday, with one incident in Diekirch where vigilant neighbours managed to apprehend a thief. Additionally, a petrol station was targeted in Oberpallen.

On the afternoon of 13 February, a burglary attempt was thwarted on Promenade de la Sûre in Diekirch when two alert neighbours spotted a thief attempting to break into a residence. Upon realising he had been noticed, the perpetrator attempted to flee, but was swiftly apprehended by the neighbours. By the time the police arrived, the burglar had been restrained by the residents. He was arrested and appeared in court on Wednesday morning.

During the night of February 13 to 14, a burglary was reported at a petrol station and shopping centre on Route d’Arlon in Oberpallen (Beckerich). Preliminary reports indicate that the perpetrators forcibly entered the petrol station and adjacent shopping centre, making off with various items including tobacco and jewellery, before escaping in an unknown direction. An investigation is currently underway.

Simultaneously, another burglary was reported at a bar on Rue de la Gare in Lintgen. In this instance, the burglars gained entry by breaking a window, subsequently damaging a slot machine and making off with the loot. An investigation into this incident has also been initiated.
