
After ravaging north-western France with wind speeds of up to 200 km/h, storm Ciarán, which has claimed at least ten lives across Europe, reached the northern regions of the country on Thursday evening. Despite its passage, residual rain and strong winds are still anticipated in some parts on Friday.
In Luxembourg, MétéoLux projects a day marked by extensive cloud cover, with occasional glimpses of sunshine possible during the afternoon. Morning showers may occur, but it’s primarily the winds that residents should look out for. The country is under yellow alert for strong winds, with gusts of between 65 and 75 km/h forecast. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover around 9°C.
On Saturday, the Grand Duchy will once again be swept by gusts of wind of up to 65 or even 75 km/h. Météolux has placed the entire country under a yellow alert for strong winds from midday on Saturday, so take care when travelling.
Across the border in France, temperatures will range between 7 and 10°C on Friday, with rainfall forecasted to be infrequent. Météo France has not issued any warnings for the eastern part of the country. However, the Lorraine region is set to be under a wind alert on Saturday.
In neighbouring Belgium, no official warnings are in effect, but the Royal Meteorological Institute anticipates widespread rain throughout the interior. Coastal areas will experience relatively milder temperatures at 12°C, in contrast to the province of Luxembourg where temperatures are projected to remain between 7 and 9°C.
