On Wednesday evening, police in Martelange, near the Belgian border, were alerted to a suspicious individual following a theft at a local service station.
Initial reports indicate that an employee of the establishment, located along the N4, had allegedly stolen multiple cartons of cigarettes on several occasions.
Acting on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, authorities conducted a body search and a search of the suspect’s vehicle, leading to the seizure of 71 cartons of cigarettes.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and brought before an examining magistrate for further proceedings.
