Following a major outage that lasted from Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon, LuxTrust has confirmed that users experienced renewed, albeit minor, technical issues on Thursday morning.

The digital authentication service provider had announced on Wednesday afternoon that all problems were resolved. However, on Thursday morning, several users contacted RTL to report they were again unable to authenticate themselves using their smartcards.

In response to an enquiry, LuxTrust acknowledged “temporary slowdowns” affecting some of its services that morning. The company stated that it quickly intervened by increasing system capacities, which restored normal operations shortly thereafter.

The earlier, prolonged outage has drawn official criticism. In an RTL interview on Wednesday, Minister of the Economy Lex Delles described the incident’s duration as “unacceptable”. He confirmed that the government and LuxTrust will jointly analyse the exact cause of the issues that occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday.
