On Wednesday, the Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) confirmed 34 new cases of the disease, detected over the past week. Laboratory tests revealed that the outbreak has now reached 11 additional farms.
In total, 1,227 animals have been infected, including 1,067 cattle, 141 sheep, eight goats, and two alpacas.
ALVA also reported an increase in mortality among cattle and sheep for August 2024 compared to the same period last year. Livestock owners noticing higher death rates are encouraged to report them using an official form provided by ALVA.
Compared to the week between 30 September and 6 October, mortality among cattle and sheep remained stable between 7 and 13 October.
Vaccines remain available to combat the disease. Of the 240,000 doses ordered, approximately 96,500 have been distributed to veterinarians so far.
