With over a million users, a record-breaking number of people resorted to the Luxembourg Online Dictionary, commonly known as the LOD, in 2023. Close to 700 new articles, including “Elektrovëlo” (“electric bike”) and “KI” (“AI”), were added last year, the operating Centre for the Luxembourgish Language announced on Tuesday.
In their retrospective, the Centre also unveiled the most-searched words of 2023. Number one was “goen”, meaning “to go”, which points to the overall trend of verbs being at the top of the list. The most-searched adjective coming in at 28 was “léif”, meaning “nice”. The first noun on the list was “Joer”, “year”, at 32.
