Dangerous parking situationLTA students to receive P&R, says Bausch

Minister for Mobility François Bausch has agreed to the construction of a P&R to make the parking situation for LTA students safer, but likely not before 2024.

Since students of the Technical Agriculture School (LTA) returned to class in September 2021, there have been few parking options for them, forcing many to park dangerously alongside the N14.

There is no parking space at the school itself because it is reserved for staff only. Furthermore, public transport were not attractive to many of the students as connections remain poor.

Students were parking alongside the N14 and walking to their school, located just outside Diekirch. A dangerous journey on foot, as there is heavy traffic on this route, especially during rush hour.

François Bausch said in a parliamentary response that besides a parking garage, a pedestrian lane is to be constructed alongside the main road. If the required land could be purchased by the State, construction could begin in 2024, Bausch said. This would, however, mean many more years before students could make use of such investments.

The municipality is also planning a bus stop at the local football pitch, which would be included in bus route K17.
