A farm building in Knaphoscheid, a small village in the municipality of Wiltz, was destroyed by a large fire on Tuesday afternoon.
The blaze, which sent a massive cloud of smoke visible for miles, broke out in a substantial structure adjacent to a residential dwelling.
The flames completely gutted the building’s roof, though the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) was alerted at 2.50pm and dispatched multiple teams to the scene. Approximately 50 firefighters were involved in the operation, using several large ladders to combat the flames. Efforts to extinguish the fire were still ongoing as of 5pm.
