Police have mounted a search for the suspect, who fled the scene in the direction of Rue Zénon Bernard. An investigation has been launched.
The suspect is male, between 30 and 40 years old and around 1.80 metres tall; bearded, with short dark hair. Police described him as being of “corpulent” stature. He wore a red winter jacket and carried a red plastic bag.
The Grand Ducal police issued a warning on Twitter to motorists, advising them against picking up strangers or hitchhikers in the Esch-sur-Alzette area.
