Services in the travel sector are also fuelling inflation, as the school holidays approach. Air travel increased by 10% compared to May, although these prices traditionally show variations month by month.
The cost of food items rose by 0.2% month on month, with increases observed in particular for products such as fresh fish (+3.2%), olive oil (+4.1%) and potatoes (+1.8%). Food prices as a whole are 11.4% higher in 2023 compared to the previous year.
At the current rate, the next index tranche could presumably take place in September.
