The Luxembourg police reported two separate incidents that occurred between Wednesday afternoon and late evening.
On Wednesday afternoon, authorities were called to a supermarket in the Gare neighbourhood of Luxembourg City following a theft. The victim reported being pushed by an unknown individual, who used the distraction to steal their mobile phone. Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
Later that evening, officers responded to a disturbance at Esch-sur-Alzette station, where two individuals allegedly threatened another person and attempted to steal their phone. When police arrived, all parties were still on the scene. One of the suspects, heavily intoxicated, continued to threaten and insult the victim despite officers’ attempts to de-escalate the situation.
Due to their aggressive behaviour, the individual was taken into custody. However, they became increasingly uncooperative and had to be restrained, resulting in a minor injury to one of the officers. The suspect remained unruly throughout the process and was subsequently fined for rebellion against law enforcement as well as for their involvement in the altercation and attempted theft.
