Ever since the Robert Koch Institute declared Luxembourg an at-risk zone for the coronavirus, rumours of German institutions prohibiting Luxembourgish travellers from staying have grown. The Elztalhotel initially shared a post on Facebook, in which it stated that even in possession of negative test results, Luxembourgish tourists would not be welcome.
The hotel now released a follow-up statement to denounce any act of xenophobia in its decision process and explain how the institution was trying to adapt to the ever-changing situation. Officials had only recently received news that the German government would continue to allow Luxembourgish tourists to travel to the country if they had a negative test no older than 48 hours. They further communicated that they were still in contact with the administration to get official confirmation on the matter.
