Grand Duchess Stéphanie made a visit to the Red Cross dropIn service in the Gare district on Wednesday. The initiative, which was launched in 1998, is aimed at sex workers and offers them medical, social and psychological support in a safe, neutral and anonymous setting.
During the visit, the Grand Duchess was shown an insight into the team's work, which is committed to protecting the health of those affected and combating their social exclusion. The free services on offer range from social and legal advice to medical consultations and a rest and retreat room.
Many of the centre's beneficiaries struggle with various problems, including administrative difficulties, housing shortages, financial concerns, or physical and mental health problems.
In addition to providing support at the centre, the dropIn teams also conduct regular street outreach, raising awareness of health prevention and drawing attention to their services.
The EXIT programme run by dropIn also supports people who want to leave the sex work environment to help them start a new life.
