Planning for the Grand Ducal couple's visit – their third Joyeuse Entrée visit, which is located in the municipality of Wormeldange – began as early as January.
From April onwards, active work was then carried out on the implementation to represent the 22 municipalities from the east, explains Lis Steinmetz, communications manager at the municipality: "This is already huge in terms of size. For the day itself, we have a fairly varied programme. As befits the occasion, we will use the Marie-Astrid, as the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess will arrive here onboard."
A market is planned to showcase tourist offers and projects, as well as local producers, including both well-known and lesser-known names.
The large tent is intended for people from nursing homes and people with disabilities, to create an inclusive event that everyone can follow. A live-stream of the event will be offered in the tent.
Viticulture is also a major theme for the visit: "One aspect that cannot be missing for the Moselle is, of course, viticulture. We want to show people how innovative our winemakers are and what new methods they use. In the vineyard, in plant protection, working with drones to detect diseases or spray [treatments]", says Steinmetz.
The event will begin at 2pm on Friday, with the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess arriving and departing on board the Marie-Astrid. People from various municipalities were able to register to travel with them, but places were limited to five.
After the departure of the Grand Ducal couple in the late afternoon, musical entertainment is also planned to conclude the third visit, performed by local artists.
