A new scam circulating via text message is targeting Luxembourg residents by posing as a notification from Guichet.lu.
The message warns recipients to settle an alleged fine or face a €75 surcharge. These scams have grown increasingly sophisticated, with messages now appearing to originate from Luxembourgish phone numbers.
The fraudulent text, sent under the name “Guichet LU” (not Guichet.lu), instructs recipients to pay a fine to avoid additional charges. It includes a link to a fake website (lu-public.com), which mimics the official Guichet.lu portal but is designed to steal personal data. The site has no connection to the legitimate guichet.public.lu platform.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and avoid clicking on any links in such messages. These texts are scams, and recipients are advised to mark them as “spam” and block the sender’s number.
