A 14-year-old girl has been placed in custody after a minor was injured in a stabbing incident linked to the Lycée technique du Centre and the Lycée Michel Lucius in Luxembourg City’s Limperrtsberg district on Wednesday afternoon, the public prosecutor confirmed. The incident began shortly after 12.15pm in the shared cafeteria of both secondary schools.
According to investigators, a verbal exchange between the two girls, both aged 14 and reportedly involving prior disputes, escalated into a physical altercation outside the school building on a public street. During the confrontation, one of the girls allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the other in a sudden attack.
The victim managed to defend herself, limiting the severity of her injuries. Authorities said the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Emergency services and police responded quickly. The injured girl was transported to the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg for treatment.
The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later by police. The knife used in the attack was recovered and seized.
On the order of a juvenile judge, the alleged attacker has been placed at the Luxembourg Penitentiary Centre in Schrassig, as the socio-educational security unit for minors in Dreiborn is currently full.
The investigation has been assigned to the police’s juvenile delinquency and child protection unit to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
The Education Ministry meanwhile confirmed that psychological support was immediately offered to classmates through the school management and the Psychosocial and Educational Support Service (SEPAS). Support will continue in the coming days.
Because both individuals involved are minors, authorities said no further information will be released at this stage. The investigation is ongoing.
