Emergency services were called to the Atert-Lycée in Redange shortly before 1.30pm on Friday following reports of a fire alarm. School management confirmed to RTL that the alarm had been triggered and that pupils were instructed to evacuate the building as a precaution, with firefighters dispatched to the scene.
Shortly after the first incident, a second fire alarm was triggered.
In a written statement, school director Jeff Kohnen confirmed that the alarms had been sounded and explained that, according to current information, both incidents appear to have been the result of deliberate actions. At no point was there any danger to pupils or staff, and the evacuation procedure was carried out as planned.
"The school administration will carry out an investigation to identify those responsible and take the necessary further steps", Kohnen stated. He stressed that "deliberately and unnecessarily triggering a fire alarm is a criminal offence."
