A technical error in Luxembourg’s Form 100 disrupted the launch of the 2024 tax declaration process on MyGuichet.lu this week. The glitch, which affected the PDF’s ability to correctly calculate certain fields, prompted the Tax Administration to pull the form shortly after it went live on 7 April.
The error was fixed and the form re-released the following day.
Despite internal testing, the issue slipped through and led to 92 tax declarations being submitted with the faulty form. However, the Tax Administration has assured that all affected filings will be reviewed and no one will be penalised or face disadvantages, according to Tax Administration director Jean-Paul Olinger.
Meanwhile, nearly 2,000 people have already used the platform’s new 123easy electronic assistant, which is being heavily promoted. The tool helps users complete their tax declarations and, in cases without follow-up questions, delivers assessments within two weeks.
The government hopes that by the 2028 tax year, 85% of all declarations will be submitted this way to reduce delays and errors.
This year’s tax form became available two months later than usual – a deliberate move by the Tax Administration – shifting the traditional February release to April. Fiduciaries and independent accountants have criticised the delay, citing lost income and tighter timelines.
