Scam in Esch-sur-AlzetteFake charity collector steals wallet

In Esch-sur-Alzette, a thief recently gained access to a private residence by posing as a charity worker collecting donations.

On the afternoon of 2 November, a scam was reported on Rue Clair-Chêne in Esch-Alzette, according to the police.

The perpetrator, feigning to be collecting donations for a non-profit association, entered the house and then asked for a glass of water. Seizing the opportunity while the resident momentarily left to fetch the drink, the scammer stole their wallet and ran away. At time of writing, the thief remains unidentified, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.

The police warn against this type of scam on their website.
