Visitors to Ehnen, a picturesque winegrowing village along the Moselle, were treated this weekend to a celebration of wine, crémant, music, and culture.

The narrow streets were transformed for the 41st edition of the Ehnen Wine Festival, which kicked off with an exhibition on Thursday, followed by the official opening on Friday and culminating in Sunday's main festivities.

Local tradition was upheld as the wine was blessed at 10am, before the new vintage was ceremoniously presented to the public an hour later on Place de l'Église.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the 2025 Riesling vintage, which impressed both organisers and visitors alike.

President of the festival Martine Kohll stated that while the quality of both wine and crémant was excellent this year, wet conditions during the grape harvest meant the overall yield was lower than average.

Historically, Rivaner grapes were central to winemaking in Ehnen, but today, eight of the village's wine estates, which cover around 50 hectares, increasingly focus on crémant production using Burgundy and other red grape varieties.

The festival is not only a celebration of local wine and crémant, but also aims to promote the scenic Moselle region itself, according to Kohll. The presence of many colourful stalls and decorations invited locals and tourists alike to enjoy the amazing atmosphere.

Adding to the festive mood was also a rich diversity of music: Visitors could listen to brass bands, harmonies, DJs, and more.

This year's edition saw the traditional presence of the wine queen and her princesses, with a lively atmosphere and high spirits among the many wine enthusiasts who gathered in Ehnen for the weekend.
