Police bulletinDrunk man detained overnight after urinating against building and attacking police officers

RTL Today
On Thursday evening, police officers had to deal with a man who was anything but co-operative.

At around 10.30pm, a patrol observed a man urinating against a building façade on Rue du Fort Wedell. Upon approaching him, the man became verbally abusive. Officers opted to detain the man overnight, due to his intoxicated state and because he eventually fell into the street. He also sustained minor injuries in the process of resisting arrest.

Scheduled for a medical examination, the man continued his unruly behaviour, directing insults at the attending doctor. Subsequently, when officers attempted to transfer him to a holding cell, he vehemently resisted, verbally abusing, and physically assaulting them. One officer received a punch to the face, while another sustained minor neck injuries.

In a separate incident, another police patrol near Place de la Gare in Luxembourg City noticed a stationary vehicle at a green light, only to discover the driver asleep at the wheel. Upon conducting an alcohol test, the driver tested positive and was prohibited from driving.

Further investigation revealed the driver possessed a non-EU country driving licence, which must be converted to a Luxembourg licence within a year. As the driver failed to do so, charges were filed by the public prosecutor’s office, and the vehicle was confiscated.
