Police officers on patrol noticed a car overtaking another vehicle at high speed on Route d’Esch in Ehlerange at around 1.45am. The car was pulled over a short time later on Rue de Sanem.
During the traffic check, officers realised that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, a suspicion confirmed by a breathalyser test. The man also admitted that he did not hold a valid driving licence. Further checks revealed that he was already subject to two separate driving bans, and that the vehicle’s roadworthiness certificate and tax disc had expired.
On the orders of the public prosecutor, the man was taken into custody and brought before an examining magistrate later the same day.
