On Friday afternoon and early evening, police increased their presence and carried out spot checks in Luxembourg City, particularly around Hamilius and Place d’Armes. The operation aimed to boost police visibility in public spaces, conduct targeted identity checks, and monitor compliance with mobility rules, especially for those using electric bikes and scooters.
A total of 30 people were stopped during the checks. One individual, who was found to be heavily intoxicated and deemed a danger to themselves and others, was temporarily placed in detention. Two other people were found in possession of drugs, and appropriate legal measures were taken. In one case, a fine was issued.
Officers also checked eight electric bikes and two e-scooters, focusing particularly on adherence to maximum speed limits. No speeding violations were detected; however, two users were cautioned for riding their vehicles through the pedestrian zone.
20 officers and two police dogs took part in the operation.
