In Luxembourg City, law enforcement encountered five instances of drink-driving. In three of these cases, the drivers had their licences revoked.
One incident occurred around 2am, where a driver collided with a power box at the intersection of Boulevard Général Patton and Rue Marie et Pierre Curie. While the driver emerged unharmed, a bystander who came to their aid was also found to be intoxicated. Legal action was taken against both individuals, but only the first driver’s licence was revoked.
At around 3am, another motorist lost control of their vehicle, crashing into a tree between Hellange and Frisange. Although uninjured, the vehicle sustained significant damage, and the driver, found to be under the influence, received a driving ban.
In a separate incident shortly before 5am, a driver was involved in a collision at the Schinker roundabout in Parc-Hosingen. Emergency services transported the individual to hospital for evaluation, where a positive breathalyser test prompted the initiation of criminal proceedings, albeit without immediate licence withdrawal.
