
During a routine patrol on Friday evening, police officers stopped near a pedestrian crossing on Rue de Larochette in Diekirch, as a pedestrian was waiting to cross the road. However, another motorist, who had not realised that the police vehicle had stopped, proceeded to drive past without stopping, narrowly avoiding the pedestrian. The pedestrian managed to step aside just in time to evade the oncoming vehicle. The police promptly intercepted the driver, revealing that they were under the influence of alcohol. Subsequently, the driver’s licence was revoked, and a penalty notice was issued.
The police stopped another drink-driver on the A1 at around 3.30am on Saturday. During the inspection, it turned out that the driver was also subject to a driving ban. The car was seized and the driver was fined.
Finally, the police report an attempted burglary near the railway station in Wecker at 6.30pm on Friday evening. The burglar was startled by the residents of the house and fled. While a search operation including several patrols and a dog unit was swiftly launched, the police were unable to locate the perpetrator.
