Luxembourg police dealt with multiple incidents of drink driving and drug-related offences on Friday.

At around 3pm on Friday, police received reports of a car zigzagging at low speed on the A7 motorway. The vehicle reportedly struck crash barriers several times before being stopped near the Lorentzweiler exit. A breathalyser test confirmed the driver was under the influence, resulting in the immediate confiscation of their driving licence.

Later that evening, another driver was observed swerving through Bascharage and failing to stop at a red light. Police intercepted the vehicle in Clemency, where a positive breathalyser test led to a temporary driving ban.

In a separate incident on Friday night, a police patrol noticed a stationary car on Pont Margot Libens-Reiffers in Rives de Clausen. The vehicle attempted to enter a parking garage but collided with a parking machine during the manoeuvre. Upon inspection, both the driver and passenger were found to be heavily intoxicated. The driver received a temporary driving ban, and the car was immobilised.

Drug offences

On Friday afternoon, police officers witnessed a drug deal in the Gare neighbourhood and apprehended both individuals involved. The suspected dealer was found carrying drug pellets, cash, and a mobile phone, all of which were seized. Following a CT scan ordered by the public prosecutor’s office, which yielded positive results, the suspect was arrested and presented to an examining magistrate on Saturday.

In a related incident, two more individuals were arrested in the Gare neighbourhood after arousing police suspicion. A search revealed one of them was carrying drugs, leading to their arrest on orders from the public prosecutor’s office.
